User Experience. User Experience (UX). UX encapsulates an understanding of business strategy, value proposition, user research, and user experience design. UX is an innovation process that relies on a deep understanding of user needs to create products and services that provide clients and their customers with meaningful experiences.

User Experience Design (UXD, UED, XD). User experience design involves enhancing a user’s satisfaction by improving a product’s usability, accessibility, and overall experience. This entails tweaking interface layouts, features, interaction patterns, and more so that users have a seamless and pleasurable experience.

Product and Service Design. Product design is the process through which new web applications are made so they can be sold to customers. An effective product designer helps identify, investigate, and validate the problem and ultimately crafts, designs, tests, and ships a solution.

Service design is the activity of planning and organizing people, infrastructure, communication, and material components to create an e-commerce solution that improves service quality and strengthens interactions between a service provider and its customers.

Solution Design. Solution design is ultimately what “binds” product development, interface design, and software development practices. While I do not focus primarily on software development, I understand the underlying technology and tools that developers use. This knowledge allows me to anticipate the questions and issues that are likely to arise in the design process. Taking them into consideration, I am able to streamline development and implementation efforts.

The terms above are sometimes used interchangeably, but they are all distinct processes centered around a compelling product or service offering.
